Design Studio

The Design Studio is the area where tasks are designed to perform target actions using nodes. The Design Studio has two modes:

  1. View: View the task in read-only mode.
  2. Edit: Modify the task in this mode.

By default, the Design Studio is in VIEW mode for the existing tasks.

The various sections available in the Design Studio are:

Nodes Pane

Various nodes are available for designing the task workflow in the Nodes pane. Nodes are grouped based on the functionality like Data Sources, Sterling Components, Control, Component, UI, Email, Miscellaneous Nodes, etc.

  • Click the Image description icon to expand the Nodes pane and drag and drop the required nodes.
  • You also have the option to search for the required node.

On-Screen Options

The following options are available on the top right corner of the Design Studio page:

Image description Align the nodes vertically.

Image description Execute the task in Design mode.

Image description Save the task.

  • The task is also auto-saved every 30 seconds. The timestamp of last save is displayed beside the VIEW/EDIT button.

More Options

In the More menu, the following options are displayed:

Overview

The Overview window displays the general details of the task.

  • Created On, Modified On, Task ID, Title of the task.
  • You can change the Name of the task in Title
  • You can set the Priority of the task as Low, Normal, or High. By default, it is set as Normal.
  • You can specify the Expected Execution Time (in Sec).
  • Single Run: Single Run option is selected to avoid running the same task parallelly (when used in 2 different polling tasks).

    If two polling tasks have the same child task,

    • If the Single Run option is selected, one child task is executed and the other is aborted.
    • Else both execute at the same time.

  • You can specify Summary and Pre-Condition of the task, if any, in the respective fields.

Change History

The Change History window displays the details of task modifications.

The version of the task increments each time the task is modified.

Execution History

The Execution History window displays the details of the task run when executed in Execution mode.

Connected Data

The Connected Data window displays the details of the parent tasks.

Consider a task Travel Booking designed with a Task node that uses the Flight Search task.
In the Connected Data window of the Flight Search task, the parent task Travel Booking is displayed as a Connected Task.

Actions

The following actions can be performed:

  • Save As: Save the task with a new name.
  • Execute in Cluster: Run the task on the cluster assigned in the node configuration. It runs on the execution bot of the cluster.
  • Delete: Delete the task permanently.
  • Download Client Installation: Download the client installation file.
